Very helpful review Bob: irenic tone and insightful analysis.  As I read it I was reminded that unless we begin with a biblical understanding of God, man, psychopathology, and cure, AND stay consistent with those biblical understandings, psychological categories, research, and methodology will subtly lead us astray.  Only if we consistently observe, think, and counsel through the gaze of Scripture can we fruitfully interact with secular sources and bring the knid of gospel-centered help people need.  Thanks for your clear description and analysis.  Pat Quinn
